The Brain Behind Rowdy Backpacking Foods
Rowdy Prebiotic Foods was inspired by founder Kellie Lee’s own healthy snacking obstacles while backpacking with her husband Erik. Together they blazed trails and moved mountains, and at the end of the day they would sit down to a hearty meal pre-cooked and packaged by Kellie herself. All was good and well, but when it came to what to pack for a quick and nutritious snack, they were at odds. While nutrition and healthy snacks always had a place in Kellie’s lifestyle, Erik always put flavor first—if it didn’t taste good, he wasn’t eating it. In fact he used to pack candy bars as his go-to energy booster. When Kellie started struggling with some health issues, she became determined to find a healthier alternative for both of them. Kellie browsed up and down the health bar shelves, flipping over ingredient labels, buying packs to taste at home. With some additional research she realized what Kellie and Erik needed didn’t exist. So she put on her apron and did it herself.
